This Little Piggy went to Market...

Reunion Pictures

Here are some pictures from the "Hawkins" family reunion in NC!!! Poor Timothy was outside playing softball, so we didn't get any pictures of him...and of course the photographer never gets photographed as well...but I'll get over it :) I think the aunts got some good ones of us, but unfortunately we might never see those. Ya'll will just have to be satisfied with these ones!

Jason & Tyler

Here are the boys on the front steps of the church where our family reunion was

Just a day in the life of your average cute kids...

The boys in their room, with the new bunkbed
Miriam and Jason playing it "cool"

Mommy's planter boxes as Russian hats...and Jason's "Tut-tut, it looks like rain" at the softball game

The snake at the River

SO we went for a little fishing/swimming trip to the Haw River again, with Alex, Allyson, Benjamin, Timothy, and Miriam....it wasn't that much fun, and the boys were getting bored with the lack of fish and bites. So, we decided to try another spot up river. The boys took their poles, and fished while walking up the river from rock to rock...while us girls and the children walked up the path and found some nice large flat rocks to sit on, in the middle of the river. We had fun with the little boys, and eventually saw Timothy and Benjamin making their way up towards us, and Jonathan joined us from the path (he was the smart one, I think...). Alex and Allyson had to leave, so while we waited for the boys to get to us, Jonathan took Jason to another cluster of rocks further out in the river, to "fish".

Well, they found a snake. Jonathan said it was a copperhead probably (poisonous, but not deadly), so Miriam went and looked at it, and then Timothy and Benjamin went to look at it. Benjamin immediately declares that he is gonna do the world a favor, and kill this snake...and Timothy seemed pleased with the idea as well. A couple rocks away, the rest of us laughed and teased them, while they tried to push, smash, and poke it from its spot.

All of the sudden, this snake has had enough, and leaves his spot, swimming STRAIGHT for OUR rock!!! Me and Miriam grabbed the kids and our shoes as fast as we could, and jumped to the next large rock platform...only to have the snake swim to THAT one as well! Finally, benjamin came and rescued us by whacking the snake and breaking his back, before it rested on a rock, and got its head smashed in (again, by our hero Benjamin, who's fault it was that the thing was chasing us in the first place).

So, by the way...we find out that night that it isn't a Copperhead, its a Water Moccasin (or, cottonmouth)...pretty much the most deadly snake in North America. Thanks boys!!!

The Pizza Culprit...

What??? Who in the world???
The pizza was just sitting there, waiting while we set the table!! Nobody in the kitchen but Miriam and Heather...so, how in the world did this little bite get taken out???

AH-HAAAA!!!!! There's the little culprit...he sauntered back into the kitchen to get another little snack, I guess ;)
