"Oh, man!"

Announcement

Yes, this time, it IS what you all are expecting:
I AM PREGNANT!

Woo hoo!! We are thrilled :) Micah is so grown up already, its definitely time for a new little one in our house. Baby Hawkins #4 should make his/her way into the world in early June, 2011!

We are starting to throw around names, but although Jon seems to be on board with something COMPLETELY feminine and girly for a potential daughter, we seem to be a little off-sync when it comes to boy names. I'll blog when we arrive on a decision for the little bumpkin.

My greatest excitement currently, is planning the new baby's wool stash, and getting infant prefolds! Yay! (I am a cloth diapering addict, BTW)

I used to be afraid he would die young...

...now I have realize he is most likely a superhero that cannot die, but it is his lot in life to ALMOST die. Frequently.

First, busting his eyebrow open while we were in the Gibsonville house.
Next, tipping over the cart and landing on the walmart cement floor, on his eyebrow scar, therefore it swelling SO fast it burst open and blood was going everywhere.
Then, getting thrown by our family cow over an electric fence onto a pile of bricks where he punctured the back of his skull.
Then, stepping on a nail at the 1051 house.
Next, getting bit by a copperhead snake on his heel in THIS house, on a family walk down the road.
And now, THIS.

Oh...

So you'd like to know the latest episode in my little superhero's life saga?

Sure...

I had just informed Jason that we were going to Aunt Michelle's house, and he screamed so excitedly, and rushed out the door to get in the car. Coming to our glass porch door, he rammed it open, shattering the glass, and puncturing his hand in multiple places. He started screaming, and as I heard glass break, I thought it must've been a glass jar I had outside, and he got some in his foot or something. To my horror, he was holding his arm, and blood was flowing everywhere!

I quickly raised his arm, and squeezed as tightly as I could to stop the flow incase an artery or vein had been severed, brought him inside and called Jonny, and finally took a good non-panicked look at his wrist. I saw what you see up there, though it was a bit more gruesome in person. He has a 1/2 inch verticle slice into his wrist, and after I rinsed the wound, realized it had stopped bleeding. Seeing flesh deep in his arm, I could see a tendion on one side, and a vein/artery on the other...perfectly unharmed and intact.

PRAISE GOD!!

Two other places were pretty sliced up, and all fleshy and exposed (yeah...I probably could've passed out if I wasn't the only adult in the house), and 3 other nicks had glass in them still, which I removed, and cleaned up.

Janice arrived to bring cookies, but stayed to help me with the little boys while I removed the glass, and she helped distract Jason a bit too. I thank God he sent her at that moment, it was a lifesaver! Jon was still at work when I had called him, but got home in good time, and we both were just so amazed upon looking at his wrist that he didn't sever ANYTHING important (nerves, veins, etc.).

Slip N' Slide!

Outside our house

Well, this isn't exactly a "panoramic" viewing, but I tried my best :)

Our Driveway, facing the main gravel road. Our driveway here parallels the main road, to the pictures RIGHT

Turning 'round, this is our front yard

Going around our trailer to the left, this is the screen door to the master bedroom, and our big huge tree :) You can see down to the backyard, all the way to the creek below

Here is actually LOOKING at the trailer on this side (my screen door, the end bedroom's window, and the oak tree)

Moving a bit to the left, our small backyard, with drying line, propane tank, and the shed (where the boys are currently residing)

Our BIG backyard, all around the shed, down to the tree line/creek. Snoball's personal property is right on the other side of the tree line/creek

Here's a view of the backyard from the OTHER end of our trailer

...Further to the right, our property goes all the way to the road there on the right (Yeah, its a HUGE yard)

Now, facing the other side of the trailer, this is where the kids toys all are, and the windows are to my kitchen. You can see the Porch addition there, and the neighbor's car is behind the pretty tree line there (the trees kinda act as property lines)

Here is another view of our side yard, towards the road, and are parking spaces by the house (all 3 cars do fit)

And here we go, the whole pretty picture :)
Its basically a trailer, with a large add-on Screened porch, and Master bedroom. They don't connect to each other, except for a little window

Just one of those days

Lots of people ask me, "So, how was it living without a bathroom or faucets or electricity?". Most of the time I answer them with a positive remark about it being very satisfying and gratifying, but hard work sometimes.
What is hard to remember now that it's all over, is the days like THIS ONE:

One of the older boys had left a glass of milk on the counter for some reason. I had started getting the coffee ready for breakfast, yet somehow got distracted. When I came in to get the butter for the pan, I remembered that I should probably get the coffee on first, as it takes much longer to perc.

So the butter dish was open. The milk glass was full. The perculator was full of water. All I had to do was open our glass canister of coffee grounds, and spoon the grounds into the metal filter.

ONE of my fingers were wet, from filling the perculator.

SLIP goes the canister from my hand, cracking it in half, shooting one piece across the counter to knock down the glass of milk, and dumping grounds into our precious butter.

I started cleaning it up, trying not to cry (As my pan burns on the wood stove..), when Jason came over, and said, "Mom, sometimes bad things just happen. Even mommies break things."

Trying to grasp some sort of comedy in the situation, I decided to step back, and realized it was a moment to be captured forever, as I was SURE some sort of moral could be grasped from what happened, at a later time and date.

Mostly as I see it now, there was no moral OR comedy. It was kinda funny that it all had happened in a domino effect, but I think this picture is to remind me about how God got me through those hard days when everything went wrong, and that I should be grateful for those times, and the ones I am having now, now that life is a little more simple.
